National Planetarium Conference

Jason Shank runs the planetarium at HEEC, where he guides students through astronomy and environmental science lessons. To remain current on astronomy topics and available programs, he regularly attends planetarium conferences. The last conference he attended was the Pleiades National Planetarium Conference in October of 2017.

MAEOE Conference

Nature Hall instructor Rebecca Kenyon-Sisler attended the 2020 MAEOE conference to acquire new instructional materials, strategies, and information for environmental science and outdoor instruction.

Wastewater III License

Custodian Daymond Schmuck is the chief plant operator of a small wastewater treatment plant at HEEC. He possesses a Wastewater III Licence that must be renewed every three years by completing 30 hours of relevant classes. Daymond shares his knowledge of wastewater treatment  by taking seventh grade students who visit HEEC on a tour of the treatment plant as part of their lesson on water quality.
